Process
Thanks to our expertise in the field of fiber composites, we are familiar with the requirements of various manufacturing processes and guarantee the highest quality.
RTM Process (Resin Transfer Molding)
In the case of RTM, dry fibers are inserted into a pressing tool as a preform. A resin system is then injected under pressure into the closed, airless mold. The fiber layers are impregnated with resin and then cured by temperature.
Insertion of the 3D preform,
closing of the mold
Injection of resin
Compression stroke of the press,
resin hardens
Open press,
remove part
- High component quality
- High reproducibility
- High degree of automation possible
- Fast cycle times
PCM Process (Prepreg Compression Molding)
In the case of PCM, preformed prepregs that are already impregnated
with resin are cured.
Prepreg cutting and preforming
Pressing the pre-formed semi-finished product
Hot pressing
Open press,
remove part
SMC Process (Sheet Molding Compound)
In the case of SMC, prepregs made from short fibers are also used. The material is cut to size and further processed into the finished part by pressing. Complex molds can be filled and fastening elements inserted into the mold in a single work step.
Cutting of pre-impregnated fabrics or scrims
Preforming and pressing
Shaping and hardening
under heat and pressure
Removing the finished part
IMC Process (In-Mold-Coating)
This is a coating process – a Toray-patented process is also available – for plastics in which the IMC is applied during or after the pressing process. It achieves a high surface quality and thus simplifies the painting process.
